Each project in the "Top Ten Green Projects" awards by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Committee on the Environment (COTE) for 2008 was evaluated on ten measures, documented extensively on the COTE Web site. These include design innovation, community context and land use, longevity, bioclimatic design, water and energy conservation, materials, and indoor environment.
The ten winners — plus one honorable mention — approach sustainable design through an exemplary integration of architecture, technology, and natural systems

Orla Kiely for Heals
I've always admired Orla Kiely's designs that have graced handbags, wallpaper and clothing in recent years. Now the London based designer has added furniture to the mix which is exclusively available at Heals in the UK.
The pieces are mid-century inspired and the use of her poppy and bright stem pattern can be seen on upholstery, rugs, towels and walnut furniture. Sadly they do not ship the the U.S. Dreaming.....
